I checked for latest software to see if the option to turn display off was included but was not. You can try contact the manufacture. It does not bother me if display is on as it displays my vehicle speed.
• Question: Does this product have voice recording? Can this device be turned on from a remote source?Answer: Yes, audio can be recorded with the video. If you can remotely turn on a power outlet or a power source, technically, yes you can turn on the camera from a remote source.

It comes with its own power cable and car charger that you plug into the lighter socket. I have not tried what you are asking but I do know that the camera has a motion detector safety feature even when the car is off and parked. It requires the power source from the lighter socket in order for this to work, as the USB outlets turn off when the car turns off.
